TYING THE ROOM TOGETHER...one ottoman at a time.
After finishing my crate projects (for now...) I decided to move on to a few ottomans I had. The first one was given to me by my Meemaw since she was wanting to throw it out and I believe in selling EVERYTHING! I thought it was a lost cause after trying to sell it for $10 and having no hits. After browsing Pinterest once again, I discovered how easy it is to recover an old ottoman or chair. So I decided to give it a shot!
Here is what the ottoman looked like without any work done to it:
Not too pretty. By the way this is the ottoman without the legs. I started tearing it apart before realizing I wanted pictures of the process. Below is a slideshow of what the ottoman looked like in each step of the process.
I've never seen so many staples in my life! And just when I thought I removed the last one, another popped up out of nowhere. At least my arms got a workout! Finally, here is the end result:
Turned out quite nicely I think, nice Spring colors! So since this one turned out well and was semi-easy, I decided to try it one more time on a smaller ottoman. I searched our local Facebook Garage Sale page and found a cheap one that needed quite a bit of work. Perfect for a weekend project!
The legs on this one were a little scratched and needed to be painted so I decided to change the whole look by painting the legs white. The legs were difficult to get off and this ottoman had little nails holding the fabric in place which were much harder to get out than the staples. And there were a ton of them!
I decided to take the legs off and get the first coat of paint on them before pulling all of the nails out since it was going to require a total of 3 coats to cover the brown. Shopping for the material was the most fun step of this process because I got to be creative looking for something that would look good with the white legs and also something that had a Spring look to it, like the other ottoman. This is what I came up with:
Such a fun weekend project and they turned out great! Next up: frames, frames and more frames!
