Custom Ottoman
Since finishing the last two ottomans a few months ago, I had someone reach out asking for a custom ottoman. She met with me and gave me a pillow with a certain shade of gold she wanted me to try to match. So I set out in search of an ottoman to recover and came across this old, dingy one:
I immediately got to work and ripped all of the millions of tiny staples out and tore off the material from the original wooden frame. It also came with wheels which she was not interested in keeping so I had to remove the wheels and attach felt circles to the bottom of the legs so it wouldn't scratch the floor. Thankfully I had a pack of these on hand already from previous projects but they are really cheap from Lowe's or Walmart. Below are a few pictures during the process of the removing the material from the frame (aka: the fun part!)
After FINALLY getting everything off the frame, I realized I was able to keep the same foam that was used previously and just needed the new material for the cover. Off to Joann's I went with my 60% off coupon! I took the pillow that she gave me into the store and after searching for a while was finally able to find a perfect match. I went ahead and got 2 yards of the material and took it back home to wash, dry and iron so there were no creases and the ends wouldn't fray later on. I also picked up a pack of upholstery nails to use for the corners. The after pictures are below:
She was thrilled with out it turned out and said it matched her new living room furniture perfectly!
