Coasters!

After seeing homemade coasters all over Pinterest I finally decided to try it out myself! I got a set of 4 coasters from Lowe's for $0.62 total and a pack of scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby that I can use on multiple projects. I already had some Mod Podge on hand from tons of other projects and decided to get to work. This project took a total of about 10 minutes.

I simply traced the tile over the top of the scrapbook paper and cut it out about a fourth of an inch shorter on all sides so that the edge of the tile would be exposed. I then brushed Mod Podge on the back side of the paper and placed it on the tile, adjusting until it was perfectly centered. Then I let it sit for a few minutes as I cut the other pieces out and glued them onto the remaining tiles. I then came back to the first one and with a sponge brush, applied a thin coat of Mod Podge over the entire piece of paper making sure to cover the edges of the paper so they weren't sticking up away from the tile. After doing this to all of them, I applied another thin coat to them all and let them dry. For the bottom of the tiles I decided to go with felt circles from my ottoman projects but there are multiple ways to cover the bottom so it won't scratch the surface of the table.

I'm very pleased with how they turned out and will definitely keep this idea in mind for future gifts. A set of four coasters with a piece of twine holding them together is the perfect gift for new homeowners, neighbors, or just a fun holiday gift with holiday themed scrapbook paper!
