Serial Podcast
In 2014, a new podcast called Serial came out and I decided to give it a shot. The first season was about the murder of Hae Min Lee in 1999 in Baltimore. Her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed went to jail for her murder but there was never proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he was in fact the murderer. Sarah Koenig decided to begin a podcast laying out all of the facts of this case and try to find answers nobody has been able to find before.
In February 2016, the Baltimore City Circuit Court finally agreed to listen to new evidence and hear what new witnesses have to say about did or did not happen at Adnan's original trial so long ago. All of us Serial listeners are still waiting for more information of what is going to happen to Adnan's case. Below is the link if you would like to check it out!
Now she's back with another season about Bowe Berghdahl and his decision to walk off post in Afghanistan, leading him into the worst 5 years of his life in captivity. He says he was trying to get the attention of people higher up in the army to show them how badly they were being managed. He was just simply going to disappear and then return with the attention of everyone in his unit and the ones back home, showing them how many problems were currently happening with his unit. But things spiraled out of control when he was captured by the Taliban and held captive for almost 5 years. Once he was rescued and returned home, the army launched an investigation and charged Bowe with 2 crimes which would lead to a possibility of life in jail.
Sarah reaches out to Bowe two years after his return home to find out the facts and try to come to a conclusion as to whether he is a deserter or not. I'm about halfway through this season and I enjoy listening to each episode, hearing more details that nobody has ever heard before. Below is the link for season 2!
I have enjoyed listening to this podcast so much and hope you enjoy it as well. It is so interesting and really keeps you on your toes, making you want to hear more. The episodes for season 1 were released once a week but she changed it for season 2 releasing them once every other week because it is so much information to go through. Anyway, I had to share.
